I normally teach tango classes in an 8-week block of classes. These are on hold until it is safe to dance together once again. I suggest immersing yourself in the Golden Era tango music, such as the orchestras listed on my tango music for dancing page.
I will begin classes again to the extent that health professionals approve social gatherings. As vaccinations achieve wide-spread availability, and case counts decline, I will be comfortable teaching private lessons and workshops.
I am planning a 3 hour workshop covering the following topics:
(1) Introduction to Tango Musicality. This class is appropriate for all level of tango dancers with at least some previous experience. Learn about the three main rhythms of tango and how to make your dance movement energy match the musical energy. We may also cover two bonus rhythms.
(2) Introduction to Milonguero Style Tango. Adapt your dancing to the super-close embrace typical of milongas in Buenos Aires and at popular festivals. We'll cover the embrace, the walk and specific figures that work well on crowded floors.
